SPOTLIGHT ON EARLY AMERICAN GLASS-PART ONE- "COLLECTIONS & COLLECTORS"- FEATURING AN INTRODUCTION TO THE

" MALCOM POLIS COLLECTION " -

Malcom Polis has an eye for beauty & form. The fact that he collects the finest Pennsylvannia
impressionist art confirms this opinion. For over 35 years he has developed a broad representation of American blown and mold blown glass. Every geographical region that contributed in large to the glass industry is explored. Malcom is most fond of period bottle glass produced out of necessity, or, in keeping with the "one-off" tradition.
American lily pad falls into this category and the collection is well stocked indeed. On the other hand, the epitomy of the glass blowers skill can be found in both New England and Pittsburgh lead glass. Pattern molded glass from Ohio and New Jersey, colonial glass from Amelung, Wistarburg, and stiegel, all, comprise what is the largest diverse collection of American glass, outside of a museum. Introduction to the " Malcom Polis Collection" is enough to inspire any veteran glass collector, giving you an idea of what lies ahead. Second to Malcom's collection is his personality. He is one of a kind, thoughtful, considerate, and funny. Like Malcom says about attributions...

"Vus you dare charlie?"
