The Mikalonis Sale
According to auctioneer John Decaro, the market for early American glass
is perking up. He gave as his justification the results of the June absentee
auction by glass international of the Francis J. Mikalonis collection of
early American blown glass. The sale centered around some fifty lots of
antique glass featuring ten lidded sugar bowls.The sales top price was $13200
(including buyers premium) for lot #11, an aquamarine South Jersey gadrooned
sugar bowl 1830-50 with some minor damage to the rim. Decaro said |

of the damage, " This proves what I have been saying for long time,
that folks are becoming more relaxed about damage where rarity is concerned.
Lot # 1 achieved another good price the South Jersey gadrooned vase in cold
steel blue with white looping and matching witch ball circa 1840 brought
$104,50.
The second session of the Mikalonis collection closes Nov. 16 it may be
